F---ing Ignition wiring!!!

Ok! so I go out side to start my other 79 up and move so I can start working on it, stick the key in and nothing Notta Zilch turning the key will not make the engine Crank.
But it will turn on power to the rest of the system...
HmmMMmmMMm..
Checked all the wiring checked connections every thing is fine.
So since when the key is turned the system powers up but will not turn the starter so I'm pretty sure the switch is ok the only thing I can think of is the Safety Neutral switch is bad but how can I check this? Those damn switches are over a 100 bucks.
Any idea guys?
can I use a paper clip to bridge the connections in the SNS plug?

uhh if i read right it doesnt crank but everything else works? have you tried tapping on the starter? do you have a volt meter so you can check to see if you are getting power to the starter?

ok so it doesnt crank....but you have full power to everything electrical and when you jump the solenoid the starter spins correct?

yeah thats a bad solenoid. if you can jump the terminals and the starter cranks, BUT when you go to turn the truck using the key and everything electrical works except the starting i would start with the solenoid. the switching device in the solenoid is not working hence no cranking.

from the key switch? it could be but unlikely.if you have a volt meter i would test the voltage on the wires going from the key switch to the ignition solenoid. that will answer your question.

My Volt meter bit the dust while back.. I was messing around with the steering column while back but I don't remember messing with any wires.
Well thanks a bunch I'll report back with my findings.
Thanks Travis.YelloThumbUp

wiggle the gear shift in neutral while turning the key .

i'm betting on the NSS as the problem
