Exhaust Leak

found where my leak is, at the joint between the manifold and the down pipe.. passenger side.. any ideas on how to fix this?

Drop y pipe and clean areas . If has gasket like SKan said replace . Mine has none. You may have problem with studs. They alway fight me.

Thge studs need to be drawn up equally to get the m to seal. A few other tricks(this is for the cast flanges with no donut seal) are to tap the flange up with a hammer, and then snug the bolt again. You can also tighten the bolts with the engine running to be able to see if it is sealed up or not.

Mine dont have a gasket either. So im gonna say its safe to say there aint one. I hate exhaust leaks.... :headbang:

funny you should say that... i may invest in some shorties... or just go the longtubes with my graduation money... not too sure yet

The studs also corrode and loosen up . They break on me more than tighten or come loose. I'm going to go shorties in case they widen the emmissions checks .
plus easier to keep pipe tucked up under truck .

This thread is giving me deja vu, I thought you already found this leak and were headed to a shop to have it fixed? Or was that someone else? smilietease

was me, but leak wasnt fixed, and i just found it again =P

can u use muffler tape for a temporary fix?

I wouldn't because you will have to clean it off later to fix it right. Just try loosening the side opposite the leak, then snug up the other one nearest the leak, and follow by retightening the one opposite theleak and see what that does.
