i just went to the exhaust shop today, got two new hangers and welded up a seem

the seem is where i THOUGHT i got a leak from... apparently not... its a weird ticking noise... kida reminds me of those small go-karts.. i can hear it under the hood and under the truck at that seem that was just welded.. im wondering if my cat if gone? can it be related to the EGR valve at all? thats when i first started to hear it is when my egr was bad for the first time...

ug this is driving me insane! :headbang:

That's my vote as well. Just gives you another reason to switch to longtubes :goldteef:. When my cats went it was a rattling sound (deteriorating internals), not any sort of exhaust leak.

Could very well be a warped passenger manifold, these trucks are pretty notorious for that. My vote is either warped manifold or leaking gasket.

Any emissions stuff on there? Air tubes? The ones that go on the back of the heads like to leak all the time.... Also check the manifolds.

Could be like mine, cracked right in the middle of the manifold, where th front two cylinders meet up towards the back two... I wouldn't be too surprised if I take it off in two halves..

When I switched to LT's my stock ones came off in 1 peice with no cracks. I guess where there are 2 bolts holding them on there is no reason for them to break. Had to use easy outs and vise grips to get the old bolts out. But anyway, yea if your bolts are in good shape take em out and slip some new gaskets in, unless there all broke when u take the bolts out.

i think i found the issue... i think the gasket between the passenger manifold and the downpipe is blown through.. heres a little sound clip and a picture, picture kinda suks cause i took it with my phone

There should be no gasket there. There ball and socket style joints. At least my truck was.

i was reading the instrucions for the flowtech longtubes.. it seems like its a shit load of work to put on LT's... have to remove front drive shaft and everything..

what would they do with the o2 sensor?

Should get headers that have ports for the o2's to go in. If not the exhaust shop could install bungs into the headers to screw the o2's into.
