Dropping a 460 in place of a 302?

My 79 has a 302 right now, and I was wondering what would I have to do to drop the 460/c6 out of my other 79 in it?
New engine mounts? is that about it?
What about Header clearance with the steering box?
What all would I have to do?

I haven't done the swap myself (yet), but I think it is basically a direct bolt in, providing you buy the 460 motor mount conversion (Bronco Graveyard has em). Clearance for headers will remain the same, as long as the headers are for a 79 2wd with a 460. I'm not sure if the transmission you have and the C-6 are the same length, so a different drive shaft may be in order.

Well both trucks have C6 trannys.
But one weird thing is the drive shaft on the truck with the 460 is sectional?
and I don't really know why

It should be a bolt in swap.I have put 460s inplace of a 390 and 302s.just change the motor perches and trans cross member and set it in.If both trucks ar long or short bed just swap driveshafts.There should be a place to bolt the carrier on the 2 piece driveshaft.

The mounts r about only diff. If you have headers now should be fine

you are going to need a new tranny as well if you do the 460 swap. the c-6 you have now is the "small" bellhousing. you need a c-6 from a 351m or 429-460 engine.

After looking deeper in to this swap it looks like its going to way more money then I thought it was going to be..
It seems the model f150 that came with a 302 are different in a few ways then the ones that came with the 460s..
So I would have to swap out cross members steering boxes and get new drive shafts..
The money signs are starting to spin faster and faster the more I look in to this swap..
So thanks guys for your INfo but the swap is off, just going to put the truck up for sale.

Tex all of it will swap over. But you shouldn't have to switch gear boxes or anything except the engine perches and the 2 piece driveshaft. It is something you can do without a lot of expense and a few friends over to help.Reuse what is on the 79 with the 460.

Like Cliff said you dont have to swap gearbox or anything except the engine perched and maybe the trans cross member and the driveshaft.Thats it.You and a friend can swap everything and have the 460 in it in a day ot a day and a half
