Do a compression test. And a coolant t pressure test at same time.. That'll give you an idea if its from cyl or from intake gasket. Being as bad as you say. Seems its head gasket.
Check the tightness of the intake bolts, that will give some indication. I had a strong running 390 get wiped out by the intake bolts being loose, as the PO had swapped it, but didn't get them tight. Seems interesting that the middle two cylinders are not showing it, but the outer two are. That makes me lean towards intake being loose.
I would just use silicone, that is the way of the day... Otherwise, use the seals that come with the set, then use silicone to make a complete seal.
I would be certain the head gasket truly is intact though by doing the compression test before going through all the work of changing it as was suggested. Last thing you want to do is to have to re-do the same job because you didn't make sure before hand.
