Came back to thank everyone who helped me

Hi, I wanted to return here, to thank everyone who helped me about a month ago, with "Betsy" my 89 Ford. You were all so helpfull, and took a lot of time to answer me with many possibilities, and efforts to trouble shoot my truck.
Well, the sad story is, the engine truly was shot, I got a second opinion from a reputable mechanic, and he verified what my first mechanic said.
I was so hoping that I could keep her going, but she had other plans!!
I learned that this is a very supportive site, and filled with many knowlegable
fellas (and probably ladies too!)
So, now I have a 2003 F150, and if I have trouble with it (hopefullly not for a while) I know I have this site to come to, even if it doens'e turn out to be the problem, I learned a lot.
thanks again
and Happy Holidays to everyone

Good luck with the truck and thanks for updating us about the old one. Post up some pics of the new ride. We'd like to see it.

Thanks for all of your responses. I actually had to "say goodbye" to Betsy,
I got my $150.00, and was told she was going to the crusher that week, so I sat in the drivers seat one last time, and made a little goodby, thanks for the almost 300K miles, we had a good time,,,, ha, Sorry you have to go to the crusher, I kept the key, and have it on my keychain.
I like my 2003 F150, but you know, it's not the same. It dosen't have the power that my 460 had, and I do miss that power. But all things have an end, so I hope to get many miles out of this,
Here in New England, I was told to take it to the car wash once a week, to wash off the salt underneath and all around, so I"m doing the best I can to ward off the rust,,,,,
Thanks to all,
Farm lady

Not sure about a 2003 but typically, the ignition lock cylinder can be re-pinned
to work with your -old- key. :) Will it work guys, did Ford change the key-blank
pattern?

I did that recently, kept the old ignition key from my '75 F150 too, its key is still
on my keyring and I re-pined my new-to-me '91 Bronco to use it. :)

But my story's different... in that, I still have the '75 F150 too. ;)

Hi Alvin, that is very nice to respond with that info, but I"d like to clarify-
I kept the key to my old truck, purely for sentimental reasons. I also have a key to a home I had out in California back in '94. It was built custom for me, and then I sold it, got divorced.. I guess it's a way for me to remember things from my past, probably silly for some to understand.
IT wasn't a key with a chip, like my new truck.
They offered to even take a piece of metal off of it, before it went to the crusher, but I couldn't think of what I"d make with it, so I said no thanks.
So thankyou Alvin, I just wanted to clarify my post,
take care

Too bad one of us couldn't have checked it out to make sure it was really toast.

Glad you came back and let us know though.
