Brake Job Blues

Man oh man it's been a while since I've been in here, bet y'all missed me everyday I was gone huh? lol Riiiiight. Hope all's well, everyone's 20 lbs heavier from good eatin', and the rigs are still crawlin' and muddin' ;)

Anyway, decided to finally tackle the rear brakes on the Beast and I knew I'd find the metal to metal noise culprit back there but wasn't expecting to see an exploded bearing with a broken race and spindle nut grinding its way into my axle shaft hub...

She's all cleaned up but yeah the inner race bore out my hub and the new race just bounces around in there. I need a new hub. Guess what? The local parts stores are only good for air fresheners and fuzzy dice. They only have the drum part...no hub. WTF?! So I've got an A.P.B out at the salvage yards online, and notified my buddy back home to send me one if it comes down to it, but I'm in a race against time as I'm moving this weekend and really dont want to leave my ol' girl behind while I'm waiting on a part.

Anyone nearby who can help me out?? Dana 60 hub for driver's side (if that matters). I'll buy the entire drum/hub assembly if I have to. If my sister ever comes to her senses and denies her lesbian inclinations, I'll put a good word in for ya :)

Cool I'll see what's up. Would prefer to have someone close by so I could get it sooner, but I'm holding the long distance options open as a last resort...

Take a sharp punch and gouge the area that the race sits in. that will expand the metal enough that the race will sit securely in there. You might have to gouge it several times.

Well the problem is I have too much play in there as it is. The old race split and expanded in there with the rollers in the bearing wallowing out the inside...now the new race just rattles around in there. Need a new hub! :(

Probably burned up when all the bearings started biting into the race...the race is split open too. I'm thinking whoever put that wheel back on didn't pack the bearings properly and/or didn't get that wheel back on the spindle right.

I have a late '77 F-250 w/ full time 4x4 parts truck, that has a good Dana 60 rear axle under it.
It is not the "High Boy", so the axle hub should be the same.

If you can't find one, I would be willing to pull the part for you.

The only bad part is that I am in Wyoming, and shipping might be a bit expensive. [confused]

Appreciate the offer, bud. I've got another guy checking on shipping from WA state and a friend of mine has one he'll ship from about 7 hours away, but he can't get off work for another 2 days :(

I wanted to get her going before I start packing on Friday, but it doesn't look like it'll pan out. Then again, all I have left to do is put the drum back on and adjust the brakes...
