anyone got a spare?

i need a tailgate cable for my 93' F-150, anyone got a spare? its hard to get to the local junkyard as i'm have a restricted licence. thanks guys

You can get them from any parts store... have it shipped to you. I go tired of replacing them though, and welded chain in the place of the cable.

could u post a pic or 2 of how u did the chain?

I cut the cable off at the ends then welded right to the ends. It is a half twist chain as well. I have to go to my parent's shortly anyway, I'll see about snapping a pic.(The tail gate is there)

I got from parts store and never had a prob, been 5 years now. I use my tailgate all the time.

I have had new ones give out in a year or so. The cable itself is what usually breaks on me. I also tend to use my tailgate like a workbench...

On a side note, you might be able to see my patchwork on the tailgate. I got it for free because all the spot welds were torn through. I drilled through to be able to plug weld the outer skin to the inner structure, plus end welded the skin to the structure. Held up to my abuse for the time until the pivot rusted off, so when I get time, I will have to rebuild that area of the box...
