With all the new technology in todays vehicles, it never ceases to amaze me, how many "old school" diagnostic techniques are still being used. Today, I was working on an 05 Jaguar s type, with a driveshaft vibration. Old guys, remember the 60's? On the rack, in gear, roughly 70 mph, hold a marker (I used a soapstone) next to the rotating driveshaft. The heavy spot will have a mark on it, and you put weight on the other side. Back in the day, we used hose clamps. Today, theres different weighted nuts to put on the bolts securing the driveshaft (no u-joints, just a thick rubber disc). Keep adding , or subtracting weight, until the mark is all the way around the shaft.
