95 f250 axle question.

Just bought a 1995 f250 300 l6 5 speed 2wd. I have the 10.25 sterling I believe. It's a semi-floater, and not knowing much about fords is there anyways to convert the axle to full-floating? Or is a full axle swap the only way. I would love to keep it with it being 4.10 limited-slip and all.

Why convert it? The 10.25/10.5 Sterling axles are damn near bomb proof.

I would love to keep the stirling, but the one i have is a semi-floater and im not a huge fan of c-clips. altho after 238k miles im thinking the limited-slip could use a rebuild ha ha

If it is a Sterling, it has no c-clips. If you have a hub sticking out of the rim, and 8 bolts holding the axle to the hub, I can assure you there is no c-clips. That is only on the axles with a flat flange. On a Sterling you can take the axle out without jacking the truck up. You simply take the 8 bolts out on the end of the hub and pull the axle out.

some sterlings did have c-clips, atleast thats what it came up with when i searched it. nope no standard hub of a floater sticking out. just looks like an extremely beefy half ton axle. if its not a sterling what else could it be? code on the door is c5 seeing as the axle tag has been mangled half to death ha ha. cant expect too much from a 600 buck clunker that actually runs.

Danas sometimes were used with the light duty trucks like that one. If you have the fill plug in the rear cover, it is a Dana.

One of my trucks has the same rear. It has 490,000 miles on it, only problem so far, the cover plate got a hole rusted through it, and had to be replaced. I'm not very nice to that truck, so You should be fine.

No maintenance and nothing will last forever, doesnt matter who makes it. Im over maint since im a mechanic and replace engines/trans/rears/tcases from people never changing the fluids. If there is a fluid or a filter, it needs to be changed when recommended.
