94 3.0 with white exhaust

I looked through all the thread titles on this forum and didn't find anything similar, so here goes.

My son bought a 94 ranger 4WD with 3.0 engine in 2003 with 45,000 miles, and added another 100,000 miles. At that point he started experiencing white exhaust. The truck has now been sitting about two years, and he wants to try and tackle the head gasket replacement. He did start the engine a couple of weeks ago and ran it about 1/2 hour before the white smoke appeared in the exhaust. He did change the oil before it was started with no sign of water in the bottom of the oilpan.

I would like to know if there are any known issues with the 3.0 developing a problem, and are there any tips/tricks to replacing the head gaskets. I realize the problem could be worse than head gaskets, but it is a place to start.

No issues that I'm aware of. Pay attention to the front cover and intake. Those have been known to slobber coolant.

take the rad cap off, start the engine and see if there are air bubbles in the coolant.if you don't see any air bubbles it could be your intake gasket.

Thanks, I'll check that out.
