93 fuel gauge sending unit

the gas gauge doen't work in my F-150. The back tank is gone cuz it leaked. The front 19 gallon tank is the issue. if i change the sending unit on top of the tank will this fix my problem? thanks jdk

Could be a bad ground,or wiring. Get your Ohm meter out and test the sender before going to all the trouble of replacing the sending unit.

It commonly is the sender, but the quick way to validate is to do a continuity test as Randy suggests. These senders use two wire hookups, so the sender can hang in the air and work, as they ground back through the harness. However, if the connection on the sender to the harness is bad, the sender will not read back to the gauge properly.
