lol I couldn't believe it held that much vacuum..

but it does.. lol crazy FTF..

That's just how cams work. You know mine. its got some lope to it. But it being advanced 4 makes it hold more vacuum. If it was a 110 center. it would only hold aboud 10 or 11" and be a nut case and idle at 13 1400RPMs. Hell with that. thats not a street can engine in my book.

It makes a 110 center line cam with a lot of over lap act like a 114 cam. But still keep the over lap so the cam will let the engine swing to 6500RPms so it can make the power up stairs.

Advance cams are awesome. has the best of both worlds with just alittle trade off. My cam cost me about 500RPMs in red line But the amount of TQ and HP it adds to the low RPM range is well worth it to me.

I've opened this back up so as to not take away from the original poster. Keep in mind that personal attacks and threats won't be tolerated.

Information is presented here to help people...if you are in disagreement with what gets posted, that is fine...just keep it civil.

Hey just to confirm, the E4OD was offered in a 2wd set up. Without question, my 1994 came bone stock from the factory with a 351w, E4OD, and is 2wd. It wasn't modified in someone's garage, it wasn't something a shop did to save a few bucks, it was built that way.

If you guys read all the posts. you will read that i said that i have a 1990 F150 2wd here that has a E4OD . it does happen. But it not the norm.

Most 2wd F150 are not E4ODs.
Its a GVW limit. At a given GVW and over the E4OD was the trans that was given. But most 2WD F150 did not fall under that GVW. But all 4WD F150 were over that GVW limit. So all 4WD truck had E4OD trans.

Sorry But dont call me son. Im 41 and way over the son age. Im not stupid and have work on every thing from Audi, cats. Fords, and GM junk. If you got something to say say it. Copy and paste something i cant see doesn't cut it.

Thanks you.

No Lightning were the only 2wd F150 ever made with a E4OD.

All the 4wd F150s and any F250 and F350 were all E4OD trans trucks. from mid 1992 to 1996

IDK why they did that way. I have A 1990 F150 2wd with a 302 and its got a E4OD in it.

But when you look at a 1993 2wd F150 Like Chris's truck its got a AOD under it. And any 1994 to 1996 2wd F150 has a AODE or a 4R70 in it

It never made any sense to me.

But no. your truck got a E4OD under it.

E4OD started in 1989 all the way to 1998 in the F250 and 350. and when the new body came out in 1999.5 the trans got some upgrades and was renamed the 4R100.
Put a E4OD and a 4R100 on the floor side by side from a power stroke and you cant tell them apart.
On a gas engine you can tell because of the bell housing But thats it. unless you open them up. and then its still hard to tell.

But still one of the best auto trans ever made, strong SOB they are.
Then why make the bolded statement, and turn around and get all pissed off when others disagree? So it wasn't the norm you saw, but the fact remained that they did come that way. That then means that a statement saying "only the Lightning came with them" is false. That is what others have been trying to say.

So you know quite a bit about these trucks, and you are at mid life. So am I. You are younger by me, admittedly by only a few years, but the attitude you have that you know more and are older than others here is completely off. You know Vince, the Master tech? The one you bet you are older than? He was working on Fords well before YOU were born. So drop the attitude, present the info, which you obviously have plenty of, and we will all get along just fine. We are going to have disagreements, happens all the time, but we don't get all pissed off and publicly degrade each other. If I am wrong, prove me wrong. You lose the argument the moment you get the attitude and the put downs out. I can't argue with fact. Oh, and while books aren't the only answer, they are a useful resource. Of course there are other ways to fix a problem, they only present ONE option that the engineer writing it feels was the best. We all know that is not true. The service books are not gospel, they are a tool.

For the record I started the thread and I got what Twiceblown meant from the start as far as E40Ds went. I also got alot of good advice from our back and forth. First thread was a success! Got the info I needed and started and argument. Going with the Mabbco, leaving off GT heads for now and decided against the flat top pistons. Intakes and TB will be upgraded next and I'll go from there.

I'm back after a lot of researching. Found some deals on 351w efi motors and a ton of carb. Motors but not sure if I get a carbed turnkey if I need a new computer and if it will affect my trans. Gonna try to stick to efi but strokers are easy to find carbed. Looking at turnkeys either way and going with edelbrock intake and BBk 61mm Tb if it's efi....opinions?

Also anyone know torque/hp limits on stock e40d? Looking at about 350-375 hp and 400 tq...

I think you're right at where you should feel comfortable taking the E4OD without upgrades. Much past about 350hp at the flywheel and you'll need to start thinking about modifications.

94 f250 motor and tranny swap

Hello boys and girlsWhat's up? Hi, i have a new project, a 94 f2504x4 motor and tranny are scrap. Whats the fastest way to pull and replace? Getting a parts truck can pull all as one- motor transfer and transmission. This is a daily worker trying to do this as fast as possible.
Thanks

The parts that you find as replacement will dictate how easy this is. Are you hitting up a junkyard? Are you going to try to match engines and transmissions exactly so the electronics are compatible?
