93-94 5.8L swap

My brother has a 93' F-150 that recently melted a piston.

I found a 94' F-150 parts truck with a good 5.8L that he is considering. He would like to go this route because it is a cheaper alternative to an engine rebuild.

Are there any differences between the two engines, besides the roller camshaft that is used in the 94' engine?

Will the computer be the same, or will that be necessary for the swap?

Thanks.

the engines are the same except that the 94 block has roller lifters and the dogbones to hold them in place.

it is not a roller cam.. just roller cam ready.. everything is the same otherwise. if the 94 has MAF which doubtful it does, but one can hope, then swap everything over including ECU and wiring harness.

but simply, its the exact same engine except the lifters and slightly machined block to make room for the "dogbone" he can swap engine directly out and nothing else and it'll be perfectly fine..

my 92 Flareside has a 94 351W in it....

Wait, you're not making a lot of sense, Chris.

You concur with the fact that it has roller lifters, but tell me that it doesn't have a roller cam, but is "set up" for it. Of course it will have a roller cam if it has roller lifters.

Thanks for your help though, you've answered my question, you just need to clarify this roller thing, ha ha.
