88 in 98 rear end will it work

My son just destroyed the rear end in his 98 F-150 can it replace it with the rear end out of a 1988 f-150. What does he need to check?

you could make it work, but the lug patterns will be different, and im sure other things will be different. but not 100% sure.. best just to find a rear end out of a 97-03...

it will fit but the driveshaft the way it attaches to the pinion will be different and maybe the 88 doesnt have a sensor that the 98 needs and the lug patterns will be different 88 uses inches pattern the 98 uses mm

i bet he just destroyed the carrier.. you could swap those..
