It's probably the AOD. I love my Crown Vics. I had an 82 police interceptor. It had the 5.8 in it. What a fun car.

I got a big thing for that body style Vicky...

I really, really want to build a hot-rodded daily driver out of one, with the following goals for the build:
-run 100 mph down the interstate, smooth, quiet and comfortable
-pull 1500 lb trailer reasonably well
-not be embarrassing at the strip if/when I take it
-manual trans swap

I think it'll be my first real project car when I get out of school. (As opposed to just spending all my time and money keeping this stupid pile of a Ranger running. Not that I'd trade my Ranger for anything- we've been through too much together).

Go men in black style, make it go mach 1 in a tunnel..
2nd on the AOD, they could make maybe 20 or so with the 302. Nice thing is, Ranger parts swap partially in the drivetrain...

I could make a case for the Vic as a DD. Just filled up the Marquis this afternoon- 189 miles on 9.2 gallons- all suburban and in-town driving (no freeway). On the road, the damned thing will push 30 mpg @ 70-75 mph. Tough to beat, in something that comfortable.
