so the frame is bent on my 80 f150 I have a chance to buy an 80 bronco it needs a hub that I can use off the truck but I want my 4 speed. What I need to know is how much of a pain would it b 2 link my trany to the 302 or if I should just put my trany and the 300 in it, I've hurd so many thearys about wich motor is better I'm not shure wich 1 I want

I don't think it's be much trouble to put the 4 speed on a 302. The flywheel may be different, but that may only be for a 351. I am not partial to the 300, we had one truck with one and it was pathetic... People talk all about the low end torque but that's crap IMHO... 302 would be my choice...

BTW, that'll probably start a big 300 vs 302 argument, so sit back :rofl2:

My consurn is geting the clutch 2 work and when I had a new motor in my jeep they told me if the motor came out of an auto the crank shaft would hafta be drilled or somthin like that but b4 my wreck some 1 told me a 302 would bolt right up to the trans and mounts

Also the bronco might be an 81 I gota call the guy again tomarow

Absolutely, your 4 spd I think is an np435....a big ole cast iron bastard. You will need a manual flywheel for that year 302 though. everything else is bolt-in gravy.

...btw its so hard 2 find a bronco with a stick and I despise autos
x2! Same here on both counts. :)

Gave up after about 2 years and bought the first cheap Bronco that came
along plus a F250 parts truck for its ZF and other parts, for less money. :)

I'd trade my ZF in a minute for a T18 with overdrive tho, but I really want
and need overdrive in my Road-Queen Bronco. :/

A 302 feels peppy but I've never drove one with a stick. The brand new
Bump Side at work I liked so much was an F250 300i6+T18 and had rather
big 16.5" tires and it'd roll over loose sandy spots other pickups would get
stuck in. LOL :) Traction Lok, tires and light weight engine all together.

The 300i6 had plenty of power when it was brand new. {shrug}

My later smogged-down-to-hell-360FE in '75 was actually worse until you
got it revved up because of the retarded cam timing and crummy "new"
EGR engineering. Got a new cam with the rebuild at ~150k and now with
~95k on the rebuild it still has more power and gets better gas mileage
and oil mileage too. Starts better idles better all that better than it ever
did from new. That's mostly from the cam timing being advanced back to
optimum.

My '91 351w acted the same "pipey, gas guzzling" way until I advanced
the cam timing 4 degrees.

You just brought up a good point alvin my 89 had a masda trans and a zf would not bolt with the bellhousing I was told, any points on that? And another point to the 300 vs 302 I was out muddin with 4 speed and coulnt back up the hill with brutal tires thought the 302 might stop the laughter from my buddy the chevy man

Yeah I do...
"something went wrong somewhere in the communication a/o knowledge base"
LOL :)

All you need is a ZF from a 300i6 or 351w to fit the 302.

If it's a 2wd Mazda to ZF swap you'll need driveshaft work, 4wd they swap
over perfect except for something to do with the hydraulic line connection?
Heck a new line to go with the new ZF-slave is both cheap and easy. :)

I guess that connection problem goes for both 2wd and 4wd then? :)

Speedometer cable length (and its place to connect) are a sticking point for
2wd but don't exist for 4wd because the transmission ain't where it connects
to. :) You just need a ZF with a cable connection and/or a new cable.

Nothing that the factory didn't make a million-of for us to get parts from. ;)

Hmmm... what gear ratio you running with those "brutal ;)" tires?

302's have a really short stroke and quick rev-up.
Kinda like a v8 version of a crotch rocket engine? :)

300-302-351 all share the same bellhousing pattern.

The crank is drilled for the pilot bearing, press in a new one and you`ll be good to go.

Mazda and ZF 5-speeds have integral bellhousings, so just get the trans and you`re done.

Axle ratio will be on the sticker in the door jamb as a two digit number (35, 19), if it`s an open diff, or a letter and number (B9, C5), if limited slip. I think NP435s have a 6.68 1st gear. T-case should be right around 2.69 (in low range).

Just a note, 81 was when Ford changed the imbalance on 302 cranks from 28 oz, to 50 oz. So verify through casting and date codes what you have, because if you get them mixed up the engine will shake terribly.

I'm not sure how to find out gear ratio...
Clean off the tag on the axle, the top two are from Ford9inchers...

Both those are 3.25 but one's got Traction Lok limited slip. ;)

He sold the bronco b4 I could figure out what I wanted to do but there is another truck 82 f150 with a 351 he said Cleveland but I can't tell the dif between the Windsor and the Cleveland by looking at them he also said its original i was gona make a new thread on the engine but i already feel like a spammer for all the threads on this truck

I'm so new to these old fords but i love them I've heard the Clevelands are more high performance and kinda rare but out of all the Craigslist adds I've looked at I've not seen a 351 in any half tons this is also an auto so if it will bolt I'll keep the trans and drive shafts from the 300

I'm assuming 3L25 is limited slip major help alvin I'm gona look at my axals tomorrow that will help with the 82 for sale I seen a tag on my 80 but it was verry rusty

3.25 no l and about the Cleveland I was researching last night and it seems the last year a Cleveland was made was 74 so its looking like a 351m unless he's full of it pretty shure I'm just gona sell my 80 for parts by the time its said and done

Cleveland 351's and 390c.i. 360FE's is the normal way of doing things.
I swear I found a bunch of 360's that were supposed to be 390's but,
only -one- guy was lying to me, the rest had been lied to previously.

I'm betting a bunch of that crap started at the dealership "on sale day"
and has just been carried down because it's the sort of thing guys want
to believe-in, see it? LOL :)

Hello, If you live a driving distance from Las Vegas I would like to make a deal on the transmission from your 300 with all the parts for a changeover in my truck, if it is a C6. I have a 4 speed floor shift and the 4th gear is an overdrive and I am going to change to an automatic.
