1997 f 250 hd power steering

I have a 97 f 250hd and had to replace the hi pressure steering line that was rusted out..... my problem is this .. when I started the truck and turned the wheels to bleed the air off the steering wheel seemed to lock up and when I added pressure to the wheel something blew out I now have a leak in the power steering box from a small hole just below the the hi pressure line is this a relief port or is the box blown out and must it be replaced thanks,,,,,, Jaypee48

did you leave the filling cap off? so the air can escape? or leave a slight crack in the high pressure line fitting?

the air has to go somewhere when bleeding off the power steering system.

it's a very simple process when done right.

yes I left the cap off and the pump burped a couple of times
