I searched the forum but did not find an answer to this one; I'm told by the PO that my truck ('79 F-150 4x4) has an "off-road package" that it came out with new. Has anyone heard of this being a factory or maybe a dealer add-on option? If so, what is different about a 4x4 truck with this vs...
No sir- did not resurface the drums. Visual inspection, didn't see a real need to but will keep it in mind for when I tear the rear axle down for the bearing work. Might be about as cheap to purchase new drums as to have them turned / resurfaced.
OK, so here is the latest; Pulled rear hubs and inspected brakes. Driver's side had springs fall out in pieces, passenger side not as bad but still older shoes and springs. No real signs of excessive heat or shoe wear that could explain the "drag" issue. Installed new brakes and adjusted...
Since threads do not belong being posted with items "for sale" per the posting rules, I did not post pics here nor am I trying to sell anything on the forum. Just looking for alternatives, but thanks.
My dad has a restored (not all original) '55 pickup that he has asked me to help him sell this month. I am considering the typical auction sites but wanted to ask if anyone has some other idea? Thanks for your input!
Sorry I haven't followed up on this. I have not had a chance to do anything with my truck yet. I need to get more information from the VIN tag but I suspect the cause is 4:11 gears since I found out this truck came out with the factory(?) off-road package. I will post more when I find out...
Thanks all. The Bronco Graveyard folks say that the '78 '79 Bronco buckets will fit if I drill holes in my '79 F-150 regular cab. Can anyone confirm this? I still haven't decided between the buckets / console and a '92-'96 split bench.
I searched this forum but did not find an answer to this. I want to change out my truck's bench seat for either buckets with console or something like a split bench with fold-down center. What are some options on my '79 regular cab F-150 4x4? Ideas for installation are welcome too!
Sounds good. I located an OEM with woodgrain and cruise buttons in pretty good shape but wondered about fit. I may add cruise later, if so I will already have the buttons for it. That will not happen though until I resolve the steering / drag issues. Thanks for the help!
So it looks like the ones with cruise buttons will fit any same year stock column with no issues like turn signal / shift lever? The '78 and '79 steering wheels will interchange and horn butons will swap?
I searched the forum and unless I overlooked it this is not mentioned. I would like to remove the aftermarket steering wheel and replace it with a used OEM / NOS one. I have found a few, but the best one has cruise control buttons. On my '79 4x4 are the steering wheels interchangeable, say...
It does seem to get better when I slip it into neutral but It bogs down so fast it is really hard to tell for sure. m78 the front drive shaft actually makes sense if there is something keeping it in 4H, which is actually what it feels like. I'll see if it is worse as truck heats up, could be...
I posted this a while back but thought I would ask again as it seems we have several new members. Does anyone have documentation or pictures/diagrams showing locations for the engine compartment decals? In particular for my '79 F-150. Maybe locations were standard several model years but I'm...
OK. I hope to be able to put it on a lift next weekend. If all the wheels spin freely then that leaves the gear ratio. Are there options for maybe a higher
3rd gear (or gear set) for the C6 transmission?
