Two more thoughts/questions........... I am currently using a 2" urethane puck to level out the front end. By using the 4 w/d springs, am I still going to need to use the puck to maintain the same ride height as I have now. Do the 4w/d springs have a different tensile strength to compensate...
Update On Front Anti Sway Bar SwapWell fellas, with your commments posted regarding the possibility of using an OEM 4x4 front sway bar on my 2w/d F150 I was quite encouraged that a complete front anti sway bar assembly from a Gen 9 4x4 wrecking yard donor might just be the best upgrade a guy...
If I can not get that F 150 to flatten out on the corners....I guess I will be forced to get out that black plastic car again...........great with the top down on a sunny day, but it comes up a little short on the amount it can haul.
OK. so they are different. Now I am curious... how different. Not trying to be difficult...it is just that from what I have seen, the 4x4 gear is more abundant. I do not doubt you on the statement that they make one for a 4x2 as well, I just have not seen them. The yard that has the 3 units...
In my quest for better than average handling on my 2 WD 92 F 150 I have recently made some observations.
It appears that for some reason the 2 WD F 150 does not ever come equipped with a front anti sway bar. I noticed that many of the 4 WD F Series trucks and the Bronco Do, in fact come...
It had a 302 auto prior to my swap. The front shocks were a no name brand that I have had around the shop for a few years (OOPS!) They turned out to be a POS. New is not always good. I will pick up a set of real shocks this week!!! Shame on me for trying to save a buck...I have gotten a bit...
Yea, it works now. Just another one of the learning curves we experience with a near miss.
The sensor seemed to do the trick....with only ONE exception in about 200+ miles.
Beware of the unscrupuless seller on ebay, I usually do my homework before I buy...even more so now.
Well, at this point, I have now owned a total of four of the 92 through 95 F150 XLT LWB regular cab trucks, if you count my current one. That would include an XLT F150 4x4, that I ordered new in 1994. I did order it with the rear stabilizer and was fairly impressed with the handling that truck...
How bout the speed sensor in the rear end? Did the speedometer go dead? Sounds like an issue much like I have been dealing with. I guess that sensor has to be working properly to feed information to the transmission to get the shift points right. Mine makes a hell of a bang. Shifts hard at...
Just wanted to make a note to everyone about my tach installation in my 92 F150 5.8 auto 2w/d. In the process of restoring my truck, (replaced almost everything except the bare cab shell and the frame rails)! I decided to add an instrument cluster with the tachometer option. All seemed to be...
What Tires and wheels?Well, if your truck was a 3/4 ton I would say the 15x10 American racing 5 spoke or 8 hole polished aluminum wheel. BFG or Goodyear 33x12.5 tire. That would be a combination very simmilar to Ken's (utfball68), red and white77 F250. I think that truck also has the...
I have a 96 Explorer with a factory installed door lock that is in the form of a keypad located on the drivers door. I purchased this vehicle used. Did not get a comnination or code to work the keypad. How do I go about locating or changing the code so it is useable? Thanks.
O.K., I know that this is an elementry question, but I will ask it anyway, just to be safe. I recently aquired a 95 Explorer with "shift on the fly" control for engaging and disengaging the 4 wheel drive. I did not get a manual with this vehicle. My 94 F-150 had the same "shift on the fly"...
I think they got it right in 92 and made a few improvements thru 96....They just forgot the Cammer option.
Oh well, it is not a perfect world. To prove that point....Dodge still tries to make a pick up.
Oh, I signed up with Alldata. There is a wealth of information and any schematic known to man on that site. Best 29.95 I have spent, lately. The subscription is in effect for a year. Good stuff!
Thanx Don, But, no schematics are necessary, she runs and shifts...all is wired in with the computer and wires from the wrecking yard truch. I am ready to go. Till the big rebuild. All I need now is the time to do it. All of the new parts are in the shed.
Thanx FellasI should also add a thank you to Truckin4life, Conaski, and Lost for getting me started off on the right track to handle this swap! This site really has some good guys who are a big help. Oh, the other real find is RADIO FREE TEXAS.God Bless Texas..........and WillieThanks...
Hi Alvin.
Well, I finally found someone with a memory shorter than mine. My memory is good it is just that it is very short. According to the history on my original thread,(4/29 or so). You did read it, you even responded. :-) That is OK, I do the same thing after reading so much of the...
Don.....Give it some GRUNT. They are now reproducing the CAMMER! As a crate motor! Build the truck that any Ford Man would be proud to own.
Mud puddles will no longer be an issue.
Thanks Lost. Naw, that was the sad part. Yhe truck was about a 7 when they sentenced it to the crusher. Well, the silver lining to that is that I not only got the harness and the computer, I bought the almost new AC components and a list too long to write of parts for another $150.00. I...
Well, a couple of weeks have passed since I posed my question about the issues I may face by installing a 1993 5.8 351W with a E4OD in place of my original 5.0 302 with AOD in my 1992 F150 2wd pick em up.
I have not had as much time to spend on it as I would have liked to but, I have made some...
Hey Don,Try what I do when things don't seem to be going according to my plan.
I recite to myself:"There was a man who complained because he did not have a new pair of shoes...........till he saw a man with no feet."Not that I advocate a lower bar...just be sure to keep in perspective...
