  1. 215,000 Miles And I had To Spend Some Money!!!

I had back surgery, so I have not done much driving to speak of this year. Only a few hundred miles recently. Still very much enjoying the truck - running well! Hoping for 300k on the original injectors! 244k now in February. Maybe I'll get to 250k next year at this time, lol!I guess I am...
  2. 215,000 Miles And I had To Spend Some Money!!!

237k miles for me (2006 commonized). Running great also. Still on original injectors, but probably will need to change them soon (except that I only drive apprx. 7.5k miles a year in it now). Thanks for the update Jeff, keep it up.Edit -My most recent oil analysis...
  3. 2003 6.0 F250 360.000 Km

He just had major engine work done at 325.000 km. $7000 worth, 5 years ago.http://www.fordtruckfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37213If he comes back, I would say truck/engine life will be highly dependent on the quality of repairs done ....even with "Babied immaculate maintenance"!
  4. 2003 6.0 F250 360.000 Km

Diesel Tech Ron has done some great things, but he stated on one of his videos that the 04.5 had the new style pump and the STC fitting. Because of that, the posts on this just won't ever stop.Ford states it is clearly an 05 thing, and so far I haven't seen or heard of it and have asked...
  5. 2003 6.0 F250 360.000 Km

Hey Shawn! Sure is a loaded question he posted isn't it!!Not meaning to contradict, but the later 04.5's had a larger HPOP, but still the unreliable swash plate type. The reliable pump (w/ the STC fitting) didn't happen until 05.p.s. - glad to see some activity here!
  6. 6.4 headgaskets and high pressure fuel pump how to

Fantastic thread Vince. Sure glad you don't get "burnt out" helping folks!
  7. Realtime help Alternator question

PCM only controls the alternator in the dual alternator option.
  8. Time To Flush Coolant

VC-9 is the iron, corrosion, and scale cleaner (acid-based chelating cleaner). The International products are Restore and Restore+.The Restore+ is the equivalent of the VC9. The Restore is for the gelled silicate type stuff that some people have found...
  9. 6.0 Powerstroke Headgaskets Replacement Pictoral Step by Step

What a great post. Thanks for taking the time to do this Vince!
  10. 6.0 quiz

I assume you are saying that both the heater core and the oil cooler (again) are plugged? If so, why was the oil temp so stable? Shouldn't it have kept increasing - unless the sensor is bad as john deere mentioned?Edit: If the temp is accurate, then there can't be much water flow, so if the...
  11. 6.0 quiz

    Thermostat stuck open?
  12. What a Week - 132,390 Miles on the Truck and all is well!!!

My thanks to you Jeff ... and many others who post here. Learning the proper ways to care for my truck right from the start has made all the difference in the world! 65k miles and one EGR valve, a front wheel 4WD hub, and a differential cover gasket leak. Great truck.
  13. Latest flash and IDS version?

    Excellent - thanks
  14. Latest flash and IDS version?

Thanks for the reply. I found my last record for the IDS version and it was 65.01, but that was late last year IIRC. Whenever you get time, I would appreciate it if you could verify that! There is a post on FTE that just came up on strategies. It implied that the most recent flash for my...
  15. Latest flash and IDS version?

What is the most recent strategy code, when was this update issued and what is the most recent version number for the IDS software? I am going to schedule an update in the next few weeks (I want the DTC when the oil cooler begins to plug)? I know I have seen this posted somewhere, but my...
  16. Throwing a P0299

    Thank you Vince.
  17. Throwing a P0299

I am getting that whoosh occasionally also. I am interested in what you find. I really don't see any issues w/ the turbo by watching the boost gauge, but then it is only on shutdown (as you described).
  18. 6.0 Turbo problem?

Uhmmm - not a wastegate issue (6.0L doesn't have one).Cleaning your turbo is not that hard to do - getting it off is sometimes a little difficult - but doable.
  19. Christmas Wishes

I just wanted to wish folks here a very Merry Christmas. On the drive home from work today (beautiful weather I might add), I was just absolutely enjoying driving my truck. Didn't take me long to start thinking about all the folks here that have really helped me learn and properly maintain the...
  20. HFCM - Changed Out Due To Fuel Pump Failure

Clearly you are correct about the pressure drop on the inlet and outlet .... BUT, the system pressure drop is typically constant to the filter IF your pump is working well enough. These pumps do not fail often. Reduced pressure on the outlet of the filter will ALMOST ALWAYS be a plugged...
  21. HFCM - Changed Out Due To Fuel Pump Failure

Monitoring your fuel pressure is almost as good as flow measurement (as well as - change the filters at 10k, and fill-up at high volume stations). On trips (where you sometimes can not get picky about fuel stations) I go so far as to carry a jar w/ me so I can put the fuel in a clear container...
  22. STC HPOP Fitting Support Bracket

I have been curious on these specific dates also!My information says that the bracket was first released on August 1, 2006. I do not know if that is correct or not .... AND I do not know if that meant engines from that production date on had them installed. So - what engine production date...
  23. HFCM - Changed Out Due To Fuel Pump Failure

Great to know - thank you for the info!I am assuming that if you did not plug your fuel filter, you still would have great service from the original design filter ...... please correct me if I am wrong!!
  24. Prepare For Winter Or Pay The Price!!!!!

Nice tips Jeff. Attention to these details really helps us keep our 6.0 grin!
  25. Transmission flush question

Maybe that the 70's were almost 40 years ago? That is what my problem is!!
  26. Transmission flush question

Mark K. has posted on many forums that a heated flush machine is necessary to get a full flush due to the internal thermostat that would prevent the torque converter from getting fully flushed if the heated machine was not used.Looking back, I had my transmission flushed at 30k miles (I am at...
  27. Son Wants To Buy '99-'03 7.3L PSD

Thanks for the welcome!Jeff - congratulations on your sons purchase. My sons truck has apprx 250k and sounds great, pulls strong. He also has front and rear Ranch Hands.I drove the truck off in a 4 ft deep ditch on the deer lease (long story) - had to lift the front end w/ a tractor to get...
  28. Son Wants To Buy '99-'03 7.3L PSD

I sold my son my 1997 7.3L w/ a DP tune. It is a great truck. The transmissions are not that strong in them and IMO Suncoast is the way to go when/if the time comes. Had one put in the truck two years ago (when it was mine) and it is a strong transmission now.p.s. - as my first post, I...
