Did some blasting of items and started smoothing edges and other casting marks.

More degreasing and ready for blasting:

Started on the thermostat housing with a file, will finish up with a Dremel. Also noticed that the base of the housing is not perfectly flat.

Good call. Those aftermarket O-ringed chrome housings always leak!

Anyone want one? $5 still in packaging... Haha

Those damn things have been a PITA since their inception!

Just ordered the distributor...bronze cam gear and recurved. 14 deg initial 28 deg total...added bonus was the place is familiar with the CHI heads as they have done work for the Engine Masters series.

Just talked to the bodyshop ...seems my feeling that it did take a minor hit did happen...frame rails were out by 1/4'' front to back. So when I was pissing and moaning about that front crossmember being slightly out of square, that was the reason. In any case it is fixed :D.

^^^Glad you didn't listen to me then. Wasn't that what basically prompted this whole build??????

But now I'm preplexed as to how a truck that immaculate gets struck hard enough to knock it out of square, with no other identifying marks.

No..the build was prompted by an engine regasket...and I couldn't bear the thought of putting a clean shiny engine in a dirty engine compartment...and it snowballed from there.
A 5mph hit on a hard object with no give can knock the frame rails out of whack...there were signs....a new inner fender apron...and also, when the bodyshop guy looked at it, he noted a spot in the frame that had had heat put to it.

May have been covered already...but this thread is 86 pages the truck is still disassembled, so I figured it was futile sifting through...anyway what are you doing in the line of driveline...dshafts, yokes, ujoints...etc.

And you have your hot 434, sounds like a solidly built C6...what are the plans for the 205????

Driveshafts/yolks/ujoints...stock and Spicer...I will pull the 205 apart and check everything..should be fine stock with any required bearings/seals.

Wow...that's surprising...I really thought you'd go more overkill than that. That said, the build still isn't over, I guess we'll wait and see...hahaha.

The 205 is easily capable of handling that kind of power...and with that converter, driveline shock load should be minimal...don't forget, I'm only going to run a 31''-32'' tire...no bigger.

Yeah...I was think the 205 was probably the least of the worries, was just surprised when you said stock. I guess I don't know transmissions well enough to fully understand the dampening of the shock load...I just see those numbers and think twisted dshafts, blown ujoints and busted yoke ears.
