Wait, wait, wait.....

Did you say you changed the plugs?

Ryan

yeah... after the shop cleaned the EGR valve and Did a lil bit of other stuff it was running solid just had a major miss at low RPMs and also had a check engine light.. pulled codes and it was like EGR issues and a couple others..

so i decided to change the plugs to take care of the missfire, and reset the ECU...... runs like a CHAMP again...

put Motorcraft Platinums in cause everywhere was out of the NGK V-Powers...

I was waiting to see pics of your plugs. Was wondering what they looked like.
Motorcraft Platinums no no no those trucks like the copper core plugs.

Hey Randy, at least he went with Motorcraft! :D I'll tell ya what, once you figure out the motors are temperamental without them, you'll never stray again!

no.... i went with the platinums to see how they do with the MSD stuff...

only reason i went with motorcrafts is EVERY parts store in the STATE.... IN THE STATE. is out of the NGK V-Power plugs...

i typically only use NGK's.... i have several experiences where they work better than motorcrafts...

There's no reason NOT to go with Motorcraft Coppers. That's the only plug that doesn't have a certain % of people with issues.

Ryan

After pulling a few sets of coppers that started demonstrating miss fires at the 100k range, I don't see why anyone would use anything else. If it weren't for my constant tinkering, I'd have no problem going 75-100k on a set of MC coppers. My sister had a Sable that lasted from 1998-2011 on the original set of plugs...started hucking and bucking like something firece, changed the plugs, good as new.

That's been my experience with them as well in my 351w.

In my 5.4, I tried some different plugs (that don't have the breaking-off issue) but they ran like crap. I threw the Motorcraft plugs in, ran good as new.

My only experience with NGKs was in snowmobiles and I will never use them again. Switched to Autolite of all things and those sleds never ran better.

NGK = Fail IMHO

I run OEM plugs in all my trucks. MCs in the Ford, ACDelcos in the GMs. only way to go. and I'm a cheap bastard too, but I no longer skimp on ignition system parts. not worth it.

Mark, you mean to tell me that that not one time you've been working on something and wondered what the hell the engineers were thinking when they designed certain things?

I'm in the Chris crowd. I ran MC coppers in my flareside and ended up swapping them out for the NGK plugs....never had another problem out of her.

There`s been lots of times when I`ve wondered what engineers were thinking. I can only chaulk it up to they were bored and had nothing better to do.

As far as plugs, IDK, MCs are 20 or 30 miles away depending on which dealer I want to go to. So It`s usually Champions or Autolites. Both of which seem to hold up about the same it seems.

Glad to hear it`s running good Chris.

once again.. i've ran over 30k miles on NGK's in Ford trucks... NEVER had an issue.. improved gas mileage. but atleast .5 mpg typically..

You've kept a truck long enough to put 30k miles on it? smilietease
