Won't come out of 4WD

hey, i have a 1999 powerstroke dually and the other day i was using it in low range 4WD and it wouldnt come out of it, i backed up after putting it in park and turning the knob to 2wd and it just wont come out. any ideas on what i could do or what could be wrong?

Just making sure, are you sure your switching it properly, foot on the brake, in neutral if it's a stick sometimes the clutch has to be depressed also then shift from 4x4 to 2wd and see if it works.

Then it's trans is neutral foot on brake and select 2wd. If that doesn't work you can remove the motor off the transfer case and shift it back to 2wd manualy as long as the problem your having is not inside the transfer case. with the motor off you can switch between 2 and 4wd and see if the motor accually turns.

Did you try backing up a little ways? It has worked for me on some older trucks

yep, learned this as well, usually only necessary when coming from 4 LO....

I don't see the issue, just drive off road everywhere now.

turning the steering wheel back and forth while backing up releases the bind on older trucks. Might work with yours.
