Wiring Conversion Chart

I'm going to be putting in a new head unit on the Bronco some time this week. It's a clarion CZ109 for those who were wondering. I've heard that Ford made the oh so customer friendly decision of making there wires different colors than everybody else. Does anybody have a chart that shows Ford wiring to normal wiring?

When I put an aftermarket head unit in my Escort, I bought a harness from Crutchfield that had clips to match the Ford wires on one end (so I didn't have to hack up the factory harness at all) and standard color wires on the other end.

I double-checked everything, but all the colors matched up to the Alpine head unit I installed. Can't remember whether they matched the Ford wiring or not, but if such a harness is available for your Bronco, I highly recommend getting one.

I'll go get the Walmart one because I don't have the time to order one.

Wal-Mart one is probably exactly the same part in a different box.

My suggestion, though, is that if they're out of stock for the one you need, wait to install the radio. Order it, find it elsewhere, whatever.

Don't rush it...a bad stereo install is a lot worse than waiting a little longer to put the new head unit in.

They didn't have it, I'm going to go to a different Walmart tomorrow and if they don't have it I'll hit up O'Reily or Autozone.

You can add it to your cart and check out in about 8 minutes. How much time are you spending driving to Wal Mart, Auto Zone, O'Reilly's, and Best Buy? Are you commuting in the starship Enterprise?

Yea my broks wiring was all messed up, even with the conversion connectors. Before you finish it all up, just ck that the front L+R and Rear L+R play independent of each other. When mine was on LF both L and R front speakers played. So I had to change some of the wires around, so it was like green to grey and what not. My bronk had a hard life before me, chances are your wireing wasnt prehacked like mine.

"NOTE Regarding Ford Wire Colors:
Most major auto makers use the same wire colors year after year.
However, Ford does not consistently use the same wire colors.
Two identical vehicles can have different wire colors depending
upon the year of the vehicle where different models may have
completely different wire colors from all other Ford vehicles. Ford
uses 3 wiring configurations which makes it difficult to accurately
show correct radio wire configurations and wire colors."

LOL :)

You'll want to use the smallest possible ones that will still be big enough to insert the wires without fraying them. Be sure to twist the strands together to help prevent fraying.

And hopefully none of the die hard audio guys make their way in here else you'll get burned for using crimps  No worries, I use em too... I'm too lazy to solder.
