Window Regulators

I am switching out the power window regulators for manual crank regulators in my 1991 F250. I got mechanical regultors from a junk yard. However, I did not get tracks along the bottom of the windows. Now it appears that the tracks required for manual are longer tracks than what come with the power window. Is that correct? Any suggestions? If I do need new tracks, is there a way to remove the track without removing the whole window assembly?

I've never switched from power back, only from manual to power.
I didn't know there was a difference.

You can soak the bottom of the glass and the track in mineral spirits, or paint thinner, it will soften in a few hours and you can pull it apart.
Clean everything well with lacquer thinner, then use the windshield urethane to glue it back together.

Let the urethane harden for a day or two before you wind the window up or down, to make sure it's set

I didn't have to do anything like that on my '91 Bronco but I bought a new
Dorman part. No kidding, it was a quality part as if they were the ones that
made 'em for Ford? Wanted to rebulid the old one from the parts truck but
it got lost! LOL ...found like two years later.

Anyway, it just swapped right in. Had to open up some new holes in the
inner door skin to access bolts etc, used an electrician's hole punch.

'80-'91 Dorman 740-653 - driver's manual window regulator E7TZ-1523201-A
'92-'96 Dorman 740-868 - driver's manual window regulator F4TZ-1523201-A

Only replaced the driver's side and retained the electric stuff on the
passenger side. xD

What year did the regulators come out of?

80-86, the glass was about an inch wider than 87-96. You know by how wide the track that holds the vent wing is.
