Wheels? Cab 7 Chassis F350

I recently purchased a 1974 f350 cab and Chassis with a welding bed and it has split ring wheels on it. My questions are, Did these wheels get outlawed when they outlawed them for over the road trucks? and, would like to get some tubless wheels for this truck without running around to a thousand junk yards. Most of the older stuff around here has been sent to the crusher. Having said that. what year did the stud pattern change? I know that I don't want 16.5" wheels. tires are getting too hard to find.
I posted pics of this truck on ford truck enthusiasts and need to move them over here. this seems like a better forum Wish I had found it first.
Thanks in advance

What kind of wheels do you have now? My '76 had the type where the seat for the lug nut altered around the wheel... one seat was recessed like normal, then the next one stuck out. I don't think a newer hubcentric wheel would work. My local tire shop said he could order new 16" wheels with that pattern, although I never got around to ordering them.

I still see semis with split ring wheels.

Red dots = recessed on lugs
Blue dots = the ones that stuck out

Are they split rims or the normal tube type? Mine were the 16" splits.

I never took mine off, but I'm guessing the alternating lug indentions is what centers the wheel on the hub?

Just like those. split ring tube type. I think they are called stud piloted?????
any way would like to go to tubless regular type wheels. Two reasons, one comonallity, if I'm out somwhere and need a replacement I can get it with out waiting for the UPS truck. Two, this is Texas, gets hot and we all know how tube type tires build heat. Some of you may not be old enough to remember, But it was pretty common to see trucks on the side of the road who were running a little low on air preasure and the friction between tube and tire would get hot enough to set them abalze. My one guiding principle has allways been, If you are going to ere, do so on the side of caution.

I have an 86 F350 with hub piloted wheels This week end I will try moving a couple around to see. I believe on the rear end it will be no prob. but may need the hub adapter from the front to make them run tru up there.

I think the 70's and 80's wheels will work on it.My dad has a 70 F350 and his wheel are like mine.He took off the split rims and put 16's like mine on it with no problems
