What's this thing behind the cab?

1994; 144k; automatic; 6 cyl. On the outside back wall of my cab facing the front wall of the bed is a black plastic rectangular something. Can't see enough of it to tell what it does and have not taken off the inside cab liner to take a look so am wondering if any of you know what this device is. Thanks.

there should be two, one one drivers side, one on passengers side. The cabs on newer trucks seal really well with the windows up, and these allow the air inside to escape out when you close the door, making it so you don't have to slam the doors shut.

He is talking ( I think) about the thing in Middle cab panel its no vent . Every other one has it it seems at U pull . Anti vibe,Sound deadner? No a clue

2 of my current trucks have it 1 not .

I've read about some large rubber blocks mounted on that panel in a few Dent sides, but have never seen one.

I've got one on my gen 8 ..... my guess its something to do with sound deadening by stopping "oilcanning" occurring on the panel.
