Spring sag maby? No difference in suspension from mine to any other 150 or bronco with quad shocks.

Mike, usually the first place the 33's rub is the radius arm. I know you said yours didn't and I don't know what the differences are from Bronco to F-Series, but the spring sag isn't usually the problem.

My dad had some 31" BFG MTs that rubbed, and they were 31s. The Yokohama SuperDiggers didn't, and neither does the Michelins on it now. 31"s are the optimal size for a non lifted truck.

Ok, but does anyone with 33's have the factory style wheels? Must have something to do with backspacing on aftermarket rims??

Let me also say that it's not just about the DIAMETER of the tire-- but also the width too. Don't forget that part.

i guess i can't bump this thread and not mention performance.

it's worse. gas mileage has always varied so much that's it hard to give an answer on that. the last tank or two seems better, but nothing astonishing.

it is worse on hills on the highway, but with the amount of towing i do (virtually none), it's fine by me. if you're looking at changing tire sizes and don't mind a very slight loss in performance, this is a good size

Cool, so that's about equivalent to a 30"? They dont look bad on your truck. :)

What gear do you have in the rear end, Tom?

Ryan
pretty sure my vin/door code said something like 3.53 or something even numerically lower, but my rpms are at 1900 at 67 mph. that makes me thing it's been swapped to either 3.73 or 4.10 at some point. the PO bought this strictly to tow a 5th wheel (that's why the miles are so low). i can't imagine buying it and keeping low gears in it to tow with.
EDIT: long story short - no idea

1900 at 67 don't sound like 4.10s to me. Maybe 3.73s...lemme find some numbers and do the math.

I have 3.55's and at 67 I'm pulling around 2200.

That means you have a lower numbered gear. I'm not even sure what gears there are (numerically) lower. I know there's such a thing as a 2.93 and I think a 3.07. Is there an intermediate that was an option?

^^I think it was a 3.08 not 3.07...but IIRC, there's also a 3.23.

Your automatic may have a different OD ratio than his 5-gear, though...
