I'm going back to the track sometime soon.. Wanna hear what some of y'all think the truck will run..

Last time it ran a 10.59. BUT it spun out the whole, was not cooled off, left the line off idle, let the trans shift automatically. apun into 2nd gear, crappy tires still at 35 psi, still had pacesetter shorties, and factory y-pipe and factory cats..

And to do that y'all need specs.. Here I go..

92 reg cab short bed Flareside.
5.0 .030 overbore
Flat tops w/valve reliefs
Trick flow track heat 170cc/58cc chamber heads
Comp cam XE-264hr-14 pn:35-349-8
Scorpion 1.72 roller rockers
Hedman long tube headers
2.5" duals w/magnaflow cats, x-pipe, spintech race mufflers
Rebuilt upgraded AOD, factory stall
3.55 rear gears..

I will be doing the ole AOD shuffle to shift gears manually..

Will be leaving at whatever rpm I can rev it to before it breaks tires loose.. Will be shifting around 5300 which is just right before rev limiter..
What do y'all think?

Is there no way to set up an aod to be able to manual shift like a normal transmission?

Low to mid 9s is my guess. What have you done in the way of tuning your ECM since the last run?

To manually shift a AOD you have to do what's nicknamed the AOD shuffle..

The gears listed on the dash are PRN(D)D1

You start out in 1, then shift into D, and pull back down into 1 and it'll hold 2nd gear, go up into D again to go into 3rd, then into (D) to be in overdrive..

And nothing in tuning yet.. Waiting on the right deal on a mustang a9l or a9p, to go MAF

Bench racing doesn't interest me, get it to the track and put it through its paces then we will know. :)

Interesting Chris, never heard of that. That would keep the rpm's up in the sweet spot, like doing a power shift in a manual?

This. Run it and let us know. But you haven`t done a thing to improve traction. Make it hook, run it, than let us know.

Oh, plenty of AODs have lost overdrive doing the shuffle.

Better tires and ill lower tire pressure..

Plus that other run was the first day the track was open this year so it was raw.. Not very sticky yet at all..
