what model is it? explorer,xlt,etc?

ok im fixing up my 78 F250. it has a place for hood ornament and 3 holes on back of bed for an emblem. anyways i saw it needed a hood ornament and emblem,so i was thinking explorer. anyway the bedside emblem i got for an explorer has 5 holes to hold it in and what ever mine is it takes has 3 holes. ik theres a custom bed emblem,bt i dnt believe plain customs had hood ornaments. it also didnt have glove box door so cant tell from that. all the chrome trim stuff has been thrown away before i got it. it doesnt have gauges, just idiot lights if that helps. it originally had air

Wht not see if you can dig up some Ranger XLT emblems, my 79 Bronco came with them on the front fenders and a lot of people just won't believe there is such a thing as a full size Ranger as so many are used to small Ranger trucks. It's funny at the least.:wasntme:

Type 6 in Dennis' post is the best.lol.

Your best bet is to Contact Ford for a build sheet. The sheet will tell you what your truck was originally ordered with. If you're interested, i'll give you the info on how to do it.

The only help I can be is for the bed side emblem it definitely is not Ranger XLT. Unless someone didn't drill all the holes. I don't remember the last time I saw a Custom badge so not sure how many holes for that one. Maybe someone will know. I think even just the Ranger emblem had more then three. On my truck someone actually drilled the holes wrong so the one side said XLT Ranger. I had to use double sided tape to install them instead.

Are the holes on the top of the bedside right below the rear stake pocket hole, or are they halfway down the bed from the stake pocket holes, in line with the gas door?

i'll take a pic for you

the holes are halfway down the bed,not on top and ig the explorer emblem only has 3 pins stickin out with 2 other short pins. only 3 are supposed to go through the bed, but it dnt work for mine. im thinking its an xlt because custom trucks never had a hood orn as far as i know.

could very well be, it has a rear sway bar and many of em ive seen dont

AFAIK, Customs could be ordered any way the buyer wanted so maybe they could get a hood ornament. Ranger XLT has more than 3 holes. There are two holes just for the XLT part.

Also someone could have added a hood ornament. I have a 1973 F100 but someone put holes for Ranger badges on the cowl and that didn't come until later years. It still has the F100 emblems on the fenders the way it should be as well. People can add a lot of stuff over time.

yes,ik thats what i originally thought mine was but the explorer emblem wont even come close to working. mine does hve the place for the emblem in the sme place as tht green explorer there tho. I dnt believe these holes have been drilled out by any1,as they were poorly bondoed over to hide them,i thnk theyre original. I seriously never saw a custom with hood ornament, Im really wanting the correct ones alot. are u sure xlt woudlnt have 3 pins, I think it would, one for each letter?
