Vent Window Handle w/button

Got tired of using a stack of quarters to seal off the doggone thing. Had hoped a new handle would help so I got one from DC. Anybody got a tip or two for installing the new handle? I took the old one off and there isn't much to it but new install isn't exactly intuitive. I'm thinking if I can get all the parts lined up properly, put it on the post, use a small c clamp to tighten it into position then drive the little pin in. The button has two recesses formed in it which make no sense to me regarding the function...

There is a difference in handles. I bought one with a button 78-79, but couldn't get it installed so ended up buying one without the button year listed 73-77 and went on just fine. You might be having the same problem.

thanks i'd say you are correct. i recall seeing a note in the catalogs that said "will not work on 79" and with my truck being a late 78 perhpas that's the issue. I'll order ANOTHER one---one more spare part to lay around gathering dust
