Whoa.......did you do a writeup of what you used to make the 3G alt?
No I didn't. It depends on which style alternator you have-- my engine has the side mount which is used on 7.3s and I think some explorers too. I could have done a direct swap from a PSD but the doner I was using had bad guts, so I swapped the best pieces from about three 130amp taurus alternators (which have the wrong case for my truck) into the PSD case. Then I bought new bearings and found a like-new condition regulator at the junkyard. After everything was said and done, all of the different pieces of the alternator were either new or in like-new condition.

I think ur code is a false code, it cant be missing. You have changed all the parts already. That could cause it.

The only thing that I haven't changed in my ignition system is the distributor itself... And I guess the coil but that is fairly new and it tested good after I started getting this code.

Other than that... The problem could be happening somewhere in my harness... Maybe interference on the PIP signal somehow.

Do you notice any issues, or is it just the code?

Every once in a while I feel like my truck is VERY slightly missing, but I think it's just in my head. So the short answer is no-- I dont think there are any symptoms.

I think I know what you mean... it feels like it gets slightly out of rhythm, but I think the rpm's just dip from something on the accessory belt or something. I don't have the code but I get the same feeling.

I don't know if mine is even that bad. Honestly what I feel could easily be chocked up to "road noise" but of course with the code I'm a little hyper-sensitive to every bump and jump that I feel while I'm driving.

My MSD Coil got a crack on the underside of it, and was sometimes arcing off the intake, Id take it off and take a look, the crack got so bad, the truck just took a crap on me and wouldnt even fire.

I had it off when I took it down to get tested and it looked pretty much brand new. I could see if I can get my hands on a couple used coils and try them just for fun (and for cheap!)
