True dual exhaust

Since a crossover pipe is usually recommended, why not use a single 3"
exhaust pipe?

A fully separated dual exhaust sounds cool, but if it ain't fully separated,
what's the point?

Looks? :/
"cool factor"? ;)

If it's for looks, paint the inside of a short piece of pipe the same color as
the inside of your -real-exhaust pipe and hang it under the vehicle. LOL :)

Dumber than you thought in AZ

no cross over pipe, true dual exhaust !

I'm running true duals on my 86 302 exiting behind the rear tires, 36 inch glass packs (came this way). Nice set up but raps a pretty high pitch when passing on the hills. I think they ran glass packs due to the dual gas tanks on the drivers side, kept it tight running down the passenger side. Would like a deeper tone but they do know I'm coming around.smilieFordlogo

well here is a debate,i may be wrong, although i run a similar dual setup on my 79 460 with no crossover.i always thought a crossover pipe on a dual setup actually aids the system,it balances out the flow of exhaust between the two banks.the results more throttle response & power & better economy.think about it,on a v8 one or more cylinders may differ slightly than the ones on the other bank.i dont care what 8 cyl. motor it is each cylinder has its own characteristic.in my opinion the cross over will compensate for this.letting the motor breathe better.lets have some feed back on this men.Bob smilieFordlogo
