As the title says my truck almost seems to have a problem find what idle speed it wants to run at when i first start the truck up cold. it sits there and idles up and down and up and down for bout 30 seconds and a couple of downs it sometimes dies or comes close. Is it like i'm thinking the IAC valve going bad or just dirty or what?

I saw your post, but the only thin I know about efi is how to tear it off and go with a carb. Chris is on now, he might know.

I'd start with cleaning the IAC-- it's free and easy (down the road I go... sorry I couldn't help myself  ). I've heard of it fixing problems like that before.

thats what i was figuring was the IAC was dirty. my dads was completely a lost cause in his 95 302 when he changed his he would rev it up to 3k rpms and when it came back down it would die. but mine it just acts like its gonna die. so whats the best way to clean it? ive heard carb cleaner but any other cleaners as i dont have the money right now to go get some carb cleaner.

Any petrol based solvent like carb cleaner should work-- my weapon of choice is always Brakleen brake parts cleaner, because we've always got it around. You could also probably use some kerosene.

WD40 is a penetrant not a solvent. It might blow out some of the junk in there but it's not made for the job. You don't have any automotive solvents?

Next time get the codes it's throwing so we know exactly what to attack :)

it wasnt throwing any codes. but i just took it for a drive. man was it a difference. so much smoother more throttle response. a tiny bit more power.

Glad everything went well. I hate those IAC problems...more of an annoyance than anything.
