Mi1ion, do you know what the difference in the rods are? im assuming different carbs ?

Different lengths or cable vs steel.

You may have to trial and error the proper length,

Meanwhile,I'll look up the number for that 77 truck engine/trans combo

EDIT:

The rod from an 77 E-series van is: D5UZ-7A187-A

For the 75-77 F-series the part # is D5TZ-7A187-A

I have a 75 460 AT in my back yard so I could eventually measure it and see how long it is

I appreciate the part numbers Mil1ion,they will be helpfull in a search to locate a rod.i guess my next move would be to try to measure the distance between my carb's linkage to the kickdown lever & see what i come up with.the search for this item is like trying to find a needle in a haystack in this area...lol thanks bud...Bob
