Transmission is a...?

Hello, I have a 94 F-250 4x4 with a 351 engine and a Dana 50 IFS and Dana 60 rear. Just a quick question, I have a 5 speed manual transmission, so what the heck is it?

It would have to be a ZF.

That's the manual transmission to have!

Nothing quite like a picture... ? ;)

...2wd ZF from a '90 F250 >8500#, those X's are a dead give-away.

Don't got a picture of a Mazda.

The Mazda is a close-ratio transmission and you pretty much have
to start off from 1st gear. :/

Most (all?) of the gas-engine ZF's are wide ratio with a granny gear.

Gear ratios...
1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th -R-
T18 ========== 6.32 3.09 1.69 1.00 === r7.44
ZF M5OD-HD === 5.72 2.94 1.61 1.00 0.76 r5.24
Mazda M5OD-R2 = 3.91 2.24 1.49 1.00 0.80 r3.39
NP435 ======== 6.69 3.34 1.74 1.00 === r8.26
E4OD ========= 2.71 1.53 1.00 === 0.71 r2.18
Clark282V =====- 6.99 4.09 2.17 1.17 1.00 r5.89
NV 4500 ======= 5.61 3.04 1.67 1.00 0.73 r5.61

My ZF's 5.72 is too high for 1st gear, it should be >6.00, IMO.
And reverse is too high too, ~6.00 would be better, IMO.

While I'm at it here's my favorite automatic transmission picture...

Alvin , whats that pan the trans sitting in ?
Looks like an old washing machine base on casters.
That's -exactly- what it is! :) Had it since '79 with my first
clutch job on my '75 F150 360FE +T18.

I flipped it over between pictures, see it? ;)

I was always afraid to pull it with the sharp metal down. :/

The edge shown with the E4od on it is the "high" edge and
that edge isn't any good to grab so had to use the "low"
edges. On un-even ground and with weight on it, it always
spooked me so I mostly pushed it around with my feet. xD

Finally got around to putting the wheels on the other side
and like it way-better now.

Got another one since then.
Anybody close want one? LOL :)
