tranny might be done

Ok guys this is on the 88. the tranny since we got it we knew it has had a lil tranny fluid leak. well it had been fine till a couple of days ago. and i finally got the chance to check it out. its bad. it was low on fluid by bout 3 quarts. and when i put 3 in it started shifting but it was just shifting really really late. so what yall think? possibly just shift solenoid or is the tranny starting to let go.

The c6 is bad for dropping 2nd gear, then it would feel like late shifts. Pull off the pan and see if theres 2 triangular pieces of metal in there.

ok ill try to get to that. but when i shift it myself from 1st to 2nd to D its alright sorta.

Chris, are you shifting it maually or leaving it in drive? If you pull the pan and don't find anything check the modulator on the back of the trans. If the line inside is wet with ATF it is sucking it into the engine and causing you to lose fluid.

thats what me and my dad are thinking. i was leaving it in drive and it wouldnt shift very well but when i did shift it manually there was absolutely no hesitation and the modulator does explain the loss in tranny fluid.
