Trailer Wires

Ok. i had a thread about wiring my trailer. Different story. Heres what i got goin on. Ok i took the ford pin thing off my bumper, and took the shield off so i can get a free look to the wires. Everything looked great as in corrosion wise. So i put a grinder on my brake petal, turned my lights and and the flashers. I got flashers, running lights and no power to both brake pins.. Then i accidently touched the turn signal flasher to where the brake prong is and poped a 10 amp fuse (stupid me).

So again i started looking at fuses again. There is a 30 amp maxi fuse in the engine compartment box for the (trailer brake feed) and the fuse is fine... I got the test light to light up on one side of the fuse and not on the other.

So am i seeing a bad ground somewhere? I need some help!

P.S my dad has a 02 superduty and none of his work, i took a quick glance at fuses and none of them are bad lol.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :headbang:

Mike........ i farted around with mine forever. as soon as i switched the the "Flasher Fuse " to a heavy duty.............everything worked great. not saying this is your issue but it was mine.
never forget to unplug the harness before you back into the lake. a short is as bad as bad harness you can't trace.

I know some have a relay for the trailer brakes and such stuff, as on my buddys newer F150 we traced all down his wiring 2 the relay box to find out its not there. The box should send out its own signal to the back, it shouldnt go through anything. Trailer wiring was my thing at my job for a while so let me know whats going on. What setup are you using, 4 pin flat, 6 pin, 7 pin rv??

Funny you mention that.... I was at the junkyard getting my 460 air tube and a truck had one of those. I was going to take it but i didnt.... DOAH!

Umm not sure. Its the big circle plug. It has 4 metal pieces on the piece that plugs into the truck. The truck has two pins for break lights, two flasher pins, and two running light pins, and im guessing the ground is in the middle. So 7?
