I have a 1988 f superduty I bought the truck and one tank had a bad pump I planned on fixing it. I was away from home for a few months and now the truck which was rough starting begpre now doesnt even crank I need help.
By doesn't crank, do you mean won't turn over or won't fire and run? (Sorry, have to ask as I see people say won't crank meaning won't fire, but does turn over)
If it just won't turn over, make sure the battery connections are good, and even validate the battery is fully charged. They will discharge when sitting, as the computer will draw a little power, as will the radio.
If your battery has a charge, the cables have solid connection, your dashboard shows you the mileage, and signs of life, etc and it STILL does not start.... Then go the passenger side fender. At the top-middle part, there is a solenoid mounted on the fender. This is your starter solenoid. Put your key in the 'run' position. Then use a screw driver to short the two posts on that solenoid. If it cranks, you have a bad solenoid.
