That looks like a 3G alternator. Much better unit but it requires a bit of rewiring to make it work on an older truck. I think rjm injection might sell a kit for it.

It can be done the some of thr latter 300-6 trucks had them. To get wiring. SKan did a good write up awhile back about them . Basically heavier wire and a mega fuse will work .

As well as others.

I got mine off a conversion van high amp . I get mine rebuilt . For 1/4 the price of over the counter one.

Yeah you have to upgrade the wiring but I believe you also have to change the configuration if it's an older truck like yours. Something about how the new ones are one wire and the old ones are two wires. Like I said, I think you can buy conversion kits.

Jurgen like I said I think you have to do some modifications on your wiring. The 3G uses a separate stator wire whereas the older ones didn't.

The 3G model alternator feeds power through a high-power electrical terminal instead of the problematic spade connectors in the 75A model. The stator signal wire is located on a separate connector on the 3G model. Because of these differences, the stock wiring harness will need modification before the 3G alternator can be put to use.

This walkthrough might help:

Yeah I would upgrade to a thicker wire. 8 gauge is not big enough.

Glad you got it going. Sorry I was grumpy when you called-- you did wake me up :p
