Time for a new tow rig..

Thanks for the links man, i really appreciate it.

Unfortunately it isnt a torino..although i can see why you guessed that.

The trailer is a 26 foot enclosed Featherlite, can't remember the model no. at the moment.

I'll have to post some info about the car after it finally gets out to the track..

Okay, great. The Featherlite trailer may scale under 4k empty since it is aluminum which will help keep you keep within 20k GCWR.

For my truck recomendations, i would recommend a 94.5-97 F350 DRW PSD Automatic. Mid year 1994 was the introduction of the PSD, and it was a much improved engine over the 6.9/7.3 IDI. The PSD will suit your pulling needs much better than the IDI motors.

Definitely post some pics and specs of your race car.

Id think a 5 speed with a heavy duty clutch would be better for pullin.

Generally speaking the MT truck will have a lower tow rating than an automatic. The clutch is always the weak link in the system.

yeah, but a 450 would be EVEN cooler.

And a F-550 would be EVEN cooler

If your pulling REALLY heavy though (say 15 thousand + lbs) Clutches are cheaper than a trans..

We talked to a guy with a F-350, seems like it was a 2000 model, diesel, auto, 4 door, DRW, ect. He was pulling a 18k camper, and had went through three transmissions in something like 120k :headbang:

As for the OP, I'd say a F-350, DRW, diesel, auto would be your best choice.
