Throwin a 33 code

So paperclipped the codes and the only one it showed was a 33....which equivilates to egr not opening.....any ideas on the cause of this?I'll chase everything down tomorrow...just lookin to bounce some thoughts.

well you could have a bad egr, or a bad switching solenoid but i think it would throw a code for the solenoid. i would check the operation of the egr valve

I dunno. Doesn't the egr have a moving part? I'm in over my head here. I just tear that crap out. Sorry. :D

ok tony'smiliepig' ...... :rolling laugh: the EGR valve is what we call an Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve. it has a plunger in it that is controlled by a vacuum solenoid. the plunger in the EGR should move when you blow or suck on the stem where the vacuum line goes in.

pull the egr off, push n the plunger till you get it to move.. then get some carb cleaner and get the carbon out of there and vwa la! (how ever you say it) its all done... run it and drive for a bit so the egr can be opened, until hot essentially and make sure theres no light and your golden
