I actually just installed a TBS on my truck, and the gains are there. I have a friend that owns a shop with a dyno in houston, I dyno'd it before my CAI installation, and after. Then I installed the TBS and had it dyno'd again....the CAI and TBS combined for a 52HP+ and 56Torque+.....I say they work

Im new to this site so i will upload the data sheets when I figure it out

ok. here is almost pure proof that the CAI intake and the TBS is not gonna get near 50+ HP and TQ. it is slightly different same concept.

this is a article out of the 5.0 Mustang Magazine in the June 2010 edition. its bout basic bolt ons to a 2010 Mustang GT. ok. this is the 4.6L V8 though.

but they did a dyno run stock, then with better mufflers, then underdrive pulleys, then with a tune, a CAI intake. and each of these they put the mod on and then demoded it for the next mod to get the full amount of each mod.

and then they did a run with all the mods together. and only gained 23 HP and 18 torque. the CAI itself only gained 19 HP and 10 ft lbs of torque. so unless the TBS gained 30+ i still call bs.

I agree!!! Ain't no WAY!
maybe a single-stage TURBO.... but not a spacer. Even the numbers you list are more impressive than I would have thought.

yeah. i agree bout the numbers. when i saw it on the front of the mag i was like dam i gotta pick this up just to see. and i was relativly surprised.

but you also gotta keep in mind its for a 4.6L. but its still the same concept. and hell for all we know hes got a 4.6L.

Im going to have to scan the printouts and put them on here as proof, I swear I am not lying, the TBS I installed is also a 1 3/4 inch power plate....dont know if that makes a difference. I wouldn't come on this site posting false information just for kicks.......I will ask however if he did any tuning to it but as far as i know he didn't

I wanna know how they got the CAI to produce 19 hp. I'm a little skeptical about the TBS as well...but if his CAI got him 20, more efficiency over a carb might do it. I mean hell, when you go from a stock mani and carb to an aftermarket 4bbl setup, you can easily achieve a 35-45hp gain.

We're not saying you're lying, but there are some skeptics and other variables that could have been included without your knowledge. I don't see it being outside the realm of possibility, but I do think it's extremely difficult with the 2 mods you said gained you 50+ hp and tq.

Alright just got some other information, Jim, the guy that did the dyno's told me after he put the TBS on, he also hooked up an Edge Evolution CS programmer, apparently, the programmer itself is giving my truck 25-30hp+ and around 30torque+

a combined 20 horses between the two, a TRUE cai could net you near that....
I still call b.s. on the TBS....

I dunno...if the CAI is routed well and not a K&N setup, plus the TBS, plus the programmer...I could see it approaching 50hp/tq...maybe. I doubt it was cost effective, but possible.

The truck is a 2005 F150 5.4L Lariat. The spectre CAI alone gets me anywhere from 15-20+hp, the normal TBS power plate for these trucks are a fraction of an inch thick, this one is 1 3/4 inches, now I know the general idea is to down the TBS but I wouldn't be defending it if I didn't see a difference. I would say with the TBS and CAI alone without the programmer, 25-35hp+ and right around the same for torque.
