I have to agree with Bucks 77ford ! start with the basics and make sure there is spark and move from there. My 78 250 wtih 400m had the pickup coil in the distributer go out on me in kindof the same fassion! was doing something else ,oil pump froze and twisted the pump shaft off, replaced the pump and shaft ,and the coil went out! Have fun! again verify spark
