Thermostats ????

Since I live in a place that doesn't seem to know what a cold winter is and the summers are very hot! What would be the drawbacks,Dangers or Benefits of nothing running a Thermostat in my 79?
I've been thinking about dumping it..
What are y'alls more experienced opinions?

I am FAR from an expert but dosen't the thermostat regulate the temperature of the engine, when to cool it and when not to cool it?

So if you ran no thermostat how would your engine know when to cool itself?

Well I was thinking my Efan with its own Thermostat would help regulate the temp..
But maybe its not such a good idea.

Without a thermostat an engine tends to flow too much water, too fast. The water doesn't stay in the radiator long enough to properly cool. I learned that the had way.

here's oversimplified

The coolant is in two parts, separated by a temperature controlled gate (thermostat). One part is in the engine cooling it down, the other part is in the radiator cooling back down. When the coolant in the engine reaches a predetermined temperature, the thermostat opens and the two parts switch places. Theoretically, with no thermostat, coolant is always moving. Some sensors in a fuel injected engine require higher heat to function properly. If your engine always tells the pcm that its cold, the pcm pours more fuel in to "help" it to warm up.

You will wear out that engine faster and be less efficient.
Ford designs the engine to run at a certain temp 208*F-210*F.

Do you think the designers don't know what they are doing ?

Well some times I think that when i've worked on new cars and trucks..
But! after reading allot about custom engine builds and engine building the pros who build these engines seem to all say in a round about way, that 140 to 180 is right were you want these engines to run...
