Anyone ever purchase this? Seems like a good investment, however, how would you do a clean wiring job with tailgate running lights?

Hi Mike, yes I've seen those. The wiring is fished along the inside of the tailgate, like the roof cab lights, except the exit point is at the hinge location. That way the wire will not get pinched or cut when opening and closing the tail gate. These lights are usaually on dullie trucks. Looks OK, but I prefer the markers between the bumper and gate.

I appreciate that Roy! smilieFordlogo

You make a good point about preferring the lights that go between the bumper and tailgate. If I ever have to replace my tailgate, I will have to replace the lights too and totally re-do it. Maybe there's some more lights in the 460's future:wasntme:

Yes, more lights....

never to early to think of those dark fall days coming :D

The factory harness for the tailgate lights would be very similar to the harness used for the cab lights. The LMC wiring is very cheap and they always use those crappy scotch locks to make the electrical connection. Makes for a POS install. I would make my own harness if I couldn't track down a factory one. Rear markers would be the finishing touch for your already awesome lit truck Mike!

Yea I wouldn't use the wiring that came with it, I have a few rolls of 16 gauge wire leftover from my running board lights project. I picked the wiring up from radio shack, excellent quality!

More of my generation know who she is more than Nugent! It's pretty sad if I do say so myself.

You must thank your Dad everyday!!
:)

You bet! I can't thank him enough for raising me on Nugent, Aerosmith, AC/DC, and all the classic rock greats! :cooldude:

If he never did, my jeans would be hanging down to my knees and I wouldn't be driving a Ford pickup. Probably some POS ricer with Justin Beiber and rap blasting out my window! :suspicious: :slap:

Haha they are basically the same: crappy young boy singers who make the young girls scream, and make us young guys crank up something better to drown them out. The Nuge destroys any modern day rapper and pop artist with his Gibson guitar cranked all the way to 10!

Off topic, but I need to get a walkaround video of my truck up. Did you use a video camera or a phone Roy?

Hi Mike, sorry long days, I used my iPhone. First video I have ever done, hahaha, and you can tell!! Want to do a video driving down some of the country roads here, just like ones I've watched on YouTube. I think I can handle that between shifting gears, lol. Not like speed is a concern with the trans and gear combo it has!! Can't wait to see yours :)

I will probably use the digital camera to film it then. Is Old Orange a 4 or 5 speed? Just make sure you take the mattress out before you film that back road drive :wavey: :wasntme:

Could get a 4 flat Hoppy and use that to wire those lights in.....plugs into the factory harness and you could wire your lights into that.

That is an excellent idea! Definitely an option to consider.

I had a great idea after I saw that post of the harness from flareside_thunder,

I am going to pick up another roof cab light harness and use it! It has the proper 12" spacing and is all nicely wrapped and has the plug at the end which can easily be changed to either plug in or hard wire in. How cool is that!
