i cant wait till i get it a complete fresh coat of paint. i might even be doing it myself. found a spray gun and a compressor and a garage i could do this in. i might really enjoy this. and if i do mess up i can just send it to get repaint anyways.

Seriously though, I didn't think your truck needed painted? My paint is bluing / fading in some places. Probably just needs a good wax job.

My truck isn't as clean as yours, buddy. I mentioned all her faults. I had one guy approach me yesterday talking about how good looking my truck was tho. I stopped myself from asking him if he wanted to buy it. I'm just not sure yet. I think if I had a backup vehicle to drive to work I'd be more prone to selling the truck - but I need to be able to go to work.

Great looking truck. Definitely keep it. Fix it up and it'll be like new to you. I just did a bunch of work to my truck recently and took it from NJ to Wash., DC and had a great time. Before doing the work I thought about just getting rid of it. Now I love getting in my truck and driving.

Congrats on the new purshase! I just got to drive a V6 S-10 a couple weeks ago. Is yours four wheel drive or no? What gear ratio? The S-10 I drove was pretty doggy - I'm guessing it's geared high.

come on... do a 5.0 swap... or a 5.8 lightning swap.. and haha why the heck do you care about the passengers if they dont like it they can walk..

my truck is build for me not for anyone else.. if they dont like how it rides noisy to fast.. etc etc.. they can walk or catch the bus

if that was my truck i would do a 5.0 swap. Gt40 heads mild cam. headers etc etc to make the engine work with the tranny is easy just find a truck harnas that was for an 5.0 E4OD and plug and play..

Yeah I know, I've thought about it. I never liked the idea of putting another engine in the truck of the same Cubes but there just isn't much you can do with an EFI 4.9.

Maybe if the time and money is right and my motor pukes I can drop a 302 in the truck. I'd be happy with a cam and headers.

not once you get up close to the truck. the paint looks pretty bad. its clearcoat fading. its pretty bad. and the drivers side needs a good bit of body work.

What I'll probably end up doing is camming my motor (assuming I can find one that will mate with the computer) and add headers. If this was a perfect world my transmission would puke at the same time and I could rebuild it and instal a shift kit. A fresh rebuild with better exhaust and a better shifting transmission ought to make the truck at least feel stronger. The truck is a little tired at this point I believe.

There's a guy in Florida giving away all kind of parts, including a 302 that needs rebuilt. I wish I could get my hands on it. What all would I need anyway, just the motor mounts? Everything else should just bolt up?

Yeah I'm the same way. The clearcoat is holding up at the moment but it really needs a paint job. The body isn't perfect either. What do you expect? These are high-mile older trucks! I think they are holding up well!!

It's paid for, it's been a hellova truck in the 70k miles I have owned and driven it with no let downs, and it is THE MOST reliable vehicle i have EVER owned thus far. You're probly like me and wanting something newer but ultimately you just wanna change it up a bit. I've thought about this subject long and hard and the conclusion I have come to is that if you want a change, buy another vehicle that's an absolute dog but good on gas and cheap. That way you can switch up your routine whenever you please. That truck looks nothing like 215k...nothing like it. I'd like to know where this guy in Florida is giving away Ford parts...heh heh.Also, I've been meaning to ask you. is that a drop bumper or a fullsize truck or one specifically manufactured for a Flareside?

First off thanks for the kind words and taking the time to write all that, flareside_thunder. You make a lot of sense. The truck is paid for and has been a good truck. I've been using it for clearing land lately, mainly just to drag brush up a hill so I can cut it up.. really a big help.

Secondly, my rear bumper came with the truck.. I don't know if it's factory or not. It conforms to the truck and fits like it should so I would say it's specifically made for the truck. Do you want me to get better pictures for you? I'll step outside right now and look up the name.

Okay I had to look twice; I'm an airhead. It's UNITED BUMPER. Don't know if that helps you out any. I think it's factory but I'm not sure. It has a bumper bracket for a hitch. I want a roll pan but the bumper makes it easy to get in the bed. Sorry I couldn't help you out better! Why don't you just get a roll pan???
