speedo don't work 93 F-150 P/U 5.0

After getting this 93 f150-5.0l to run my speedo doesn't/hasn't worked.
I've changed the speed sensor in the pumpkin that didn't do the trick, tried disconnecting anti ctl mod that didn't work, code 29= no signal from speed sensor.

7/1
I changed the pig tail now my speedo tries to work but it bounces,
as i pick up speed it stops workin til i come off the gas peddle and still bounces.
olmed it on 2000k @41 olms. i've shortened the line same so i put it back still 40-41 olms. my abs light is now out and stays out. What to try next

You need to check for wire continuity on that speed sensor. It sounds like an electrical problem, not a sensor problem.

Is your transmission shifting through the gears smoothly?

Ryan

its manual 5 spd
during intermittent speed: gets to 20 mph jumps time I get to 3rd gear it starts falling, 4-5 gear its not moving any more and the milages stops as well.

also once in a while sitting at a r/l i can feel the abs pulse 1 beat a second. guess i purcgased these problems ...lol

I can't remember, does it have the sensor on the t-case tail housing?

Might check the condition of the two gears, had the same issue with my Explorer...

He didn't mention 2wd/4wd, but on the 92, the only sensor was in the pumpkin, which was great for me and the conversion....

The ABS should not be pulsing, if it is indeed doing do. That would be almost like reducing brake pressure... I feel it is potentially more in the speedo head than the wiring. Why? Because I am running the speedo on the 92 with the computer dead. It too doesn't work right, but that has more to do with the tone ring than the speedo wiring/cluster gauge. It comes and goes. There is more to that story that I am not putting out right now as it isn't pertinent. The fact that the speedo tries indicates that the wire is intact. Connections can be suspect though.

Could be, as it tries to work but doesn't completely, not to say a bad connection couldn't do the same.

sensor is in the rear chunk housing.

TY 4 the reply

2wd 5 spd 93 302CID.
SOME TIMES IT FEEL LIKE REDUCED BREAK pedal...
so what would make the speed die as i get faster, sometimes when no cars around i come off the gas and 30 sec later it starts jumpin again,.
So I cleaned the copper contacts with an eraser and they are clean, and cleaned the connectors.

I already have a 95 so i switched clusters it works fine in my 95.
I recently made a statment about the olming, should it be as high as 41.4 or should it be down closer to the teens.. I olmed it out on selection 2000k0, as it show nothing on the other selections.
Also wondering if it can p/u interfirrence from the motor.

I first had nothing workin(speed), the got my codes off computr, then got code from abs computer = 29 comp & abs comptr no sig. from speed sensor, traced wires til i found a break which was on top of axle just b4 it lifts off rear( soldered shrink wrapped & liquid blk taped... code left the comptr, but abs comp then said resistance to high, thats where i shortened the wire then seen that the connector for the speed sensr wasnt doing its job so i changed the pig tail at the sensor. now we are all caught up where i be... If it was 4wd I'd not worry bout the speed cause I'd be eyeball deep in mud bogging.....lol
I can't complain if u got to steal like i did u maybe say same thing. Originally I'd figure if I needed something I'd have some where to rob my own parts off of ( like fender rear end ect..)

Gonna goto store so I'll try to unplug the cntrl module to test that again now that it jumps, and will try a different psom end of the month.

DAMN WHAT A BOOK I WRITE PHEW!!! SORRYsmilieFordlogo

JUST FOR FYI:10:30pm est. got her up to 75mph
I DID DISCONNECT THE ABS CNTRL MODULE THE SPEED STILL JUMP BUT I CAN SEE HOW FAST I'M GOING. It jumps when at a stedy speed not while pickin up speed , it didn't stop reading so i'm thinking maybe its between my cntrl mod and possiblly abs?
Any thoughts on that guys.

Well, it sure would appear the ABS module was grounding the signal.

I have found many times the sensor will pick up metal flake from the gear oil in the axle and give the funny readings. On my particular unit, I can't quite get the sensor close enough to the tone ring. The newer sensors don't sit quite as deep into the pumpkin as the factory units. Only fix for such a thing is to clean it off, but being as yours is new, it shouldn't be such an issue.

this finding was purely lucky, as I'd tried this earlier and might wouldn't have tried again except it was trying to work.
I am in the frame of mind that the ohms may still be quite high, I've been searching the net to see if i can find the correct readings/settings for this.
And that the mod maybe receiving interference from the motor or the system ohms my go up, the faster i go or more gas the less it was reading, I didn't try ohming the (I think this is correct) 9&13 pin to test the mod but will do it later...

Ok guys gave ya a vacation from my dumb but, so back to the grind....
so should I put the old sensor back in being that it wasn't the speed sensor, to see if the latest jumping will stop.
Oor have the rear flushed and refilled?

Thanks for your time!!!!

When you changed the sensor, was there a bunch of silver/gray stuck to the bottom of it?

no sir no shaving but i usually clen it any way if i pull it out.

another note:
have another truck in sight (94 f-150 5.0 automatic) he wants to sale cause after purchasing the speed sensor it snatches when cruise is engaged. and the speed does same as mine.. will this be also a great steal.this truck doesnt shift hard, since new speed sensor
