Signal light switch

I bought a new switch before I took steering wheel off. The old one has a black wire with contact going to key cylinder. The new one has not got that, but has a light and bulb hanging on it. Other than that it looks the same. Will it work? It's a 80 cab

The wire to the key is likely for the key in ignition remimder chime, the other would be for an automatic shift light indicator on the column. You could plug it is where the other connects and see if everything that you are about works. If it does, then proceed.

Thanks, I appreciate it. This should take of my lights, except for the cluster lights. The top lights, seat belt, and signal all work, but the cluster lights don't. The cluster looks good and I put in all new bulbs.

Fair chance the variable resistor in the headlight switch has failed, pretty common. Turn the knob, maybe wiggle it a bit as you do and see if the cluster lights may come one, even if only a flicker. If so, then it shows power. If not, still be worth a try.

Thanks for the info. I put a new 80 only switch in it, and even put a new 81-86 switch in it, same result. I was wondering if that voltage stabilizer ; even though I couldn't figure out how to get it off, might be the problem.
